Enrich Your Life and the Lives of Others

Members of the Elder Wisdom Circle are seniors who share their wisdom with young advice seekers from across the world.

Via the Internet, Elders answer advice letters at their own convenience, offering young readers personalized and free advice on a wide range of topics - love and relationships, family and child-rearing, career and self-improvement, and more.

If you are age 60 or over and looking for a way to help others, please consider joining the hundreds of seniors who participate in this noble cause.

Benefits of Joining the Elder Wisdom Circle

The Elder Wisdom Circle (EWC) is the only service organization that gives seniors the opportunity to share personal advice in a private and convenient online setting.

- Use your life experience to help others

- Participate on your own schedule and pace

- Foster inter-generational dialogue

- Belong to one of the most popular advice services on the Internet

- Dues are only $40/year

How It Works

Elders provide caring, supportive, and empathetic advice based on their own background and experiences. On the main page, you will find a link to [Read Advice]. We suggest that you read other letters to get a sense of the type of advice that Elders provide.

Elders answer letters at their own convenience and may participate in one of three ways:

Individual Elders work from home on their own computer and reply to letters on their own.

Facilitated-Individual is an Elder who works with a facilitator (a liaison between the Elder and the EWC). The facilitator accesses letters on the EWC site, meets with the Elder, and then inputs the Elder's replies. This type of membership is commonly a family member assisting a parent or grandparent.

Elder Groups are 2 or more Elders who collectively offer advice through a facilitator (a liaison between the Elder Group and the EWC). The facilitator accesses letters on the EWC site, meets with the group, and then inputs the Elder Group's replies. Most groups meet in senior living communities. An Elder Group is considered one member and is assessed dues at the same rate as an individual Elder.

Orientation, instructional documents, and ongoing support are provided. Membership is only $40/year, to help support operating expenses for this volunteer-run organization.

What the Elders Are Saying

The following is what some of the Elders have to say about their experience. (We also encourage you to browse the [ Feedback and Kudos ] page to see the value of the Elder Wisdom Circle to our advice seekers.)

"If you like to solve problems...give advice to people that need help, you can do this through the EWC and you don't have to be an expert in anything but your own life."

"The EWC makes it possible for me to share all the knowledge I have gained through the years I have lived. And dues are only $40 a year. Think of all the people I am helping for that small amount of money."

"Whenever I encourage others to join up, I make it a point to emphasize that their experiences in life have given them a perspective that others don't have. And that having dealt with these experiences - successfully or not - has given them wisdom which they can pass on to help others have an easier time in life."

"EWC allows me to do my service work whenever I can squeeze in the time, rather than having to go to set meetings or activities. Given the sense of purpose and satisfaction I get from helping other people with their problems, the $40 dues seem like a bargain!"

"Who hasn't "talked back" to Dear Abby? And giving advice to younger people through the EWC is something you can do on your own time. If you want to answer letters at 3AM and sleep until noon, that's OK."

"Where else could I be of service without leaving home and without being tied down to a service position with a regular schedule? This is a terrific service organization to support."
