DATING/RELATIONSHIP: How do I ask a girl out? Original Letter There is this girl who works at this book store that i have a massive crush on , i go to the store alot and i want to ask her out but i just don't know how to do it without making it awkward as there is normally other staff members and customers in the store .Also i go there quite often and i am ten years older than her so i don't want to come on too strong and scare her off. Elder Response You would do best if you could start a conversation and then work that into a date request. For example, as you are in a bookstore, start by asking her advice. Move the book conversation into books that have been made into movies. Recently, the comic "Wonder Woman" has made this transition. If she has not seen it, invite her. If she has already seen it, talk about it and suggest another film. In any case, see where you can move from books to films. Or, try another topic. If you have any interest in foods, move from a discussion of cookbooks, or nutrition, to asking her out for dinner. Try to find a natural transition. It would also work with sports. If you can find a mutual interest, that would be the best bridge. Best of luck. However, as she is 10 years younger and you only know her from the store, she may already have a boyfriend. So, if she is not available, go see "Wonder Woman" with someone else. It's a great flick! Best Regards, Hedwig |
