When you can’t stop looking at each other, what’s the next step?

Dear EWC:

I stare a lot at this guy in my class. He kinda made me have a crush on him because I would see him glance at me. He sits a few rows in front of me and catches me staring at him many times. He glances at me every few minutes and sometimes we make eye contact, but we both quickly look away.

Sometimes, I will see him glance at me then I look up and he quickly looks away. He will stare at me while I walk to my seat, occasionally too. Once, he and I looked at each other at the same time then looked away. And he kept looking back after. Also when he laughs at a funny comment someone makes in class, he looks at me after. He is a little bit shy person, and so am I. We have never talked to each other.

I’m just wondering, do you think he keeps glancing at me just to see if I’m staring at him, since he caught me looking so many times? Or could it be that he likes me too, from all these things he does?

Having a crush is both exhilarating and confusing. I can’t tell you for sure why the guy in question is looking at you, of course, but it would be completely likely that he finds you attractive and is watching how you react to him and others. It’s a kind of game…
You look at him, he looks at you, then you look to see if he’s looking and he does the same. It would be great if you could find a way to casually talk to him, but keep it simple. If he’s shy, the last thing he would need is for you to come on strong. But if I had to give my best opinion, based on what you’re written, I’d say that he’s interested in you.
