But does she really like me?

They spend days together and can’t stop smiling. He’s met her mum. Could this be a relationship, he wonders?

“That’s a yes!” says our elder. Read on for more clues from this sweet story.

Dear EWC:

I have been speaking to a girl for almost a month now. The first time we met I took her out for a meal. Ever since we’ve spent a lot of time being intimate together, staying at each other’s houses days at a time.

I’ve met her parents on multiple occasions and she always talks about how her mum thinks I’m really nice. She sends me messages throughout the day saying how much she misses me, and jumps at the opportunity to spend time with me, as do I with her. I’ll catch her staring at me smiling when I’m in bed with her and I’ll find myself doing the same. Neither of us has brought it up yet, but I can’t help but think about all of the signs that she and I being in a relationship is a high possibility.

What are your thoughts about this? Does she sound like someone who is attracted to me and wants to be with me?

Good-Listener replies:

I smiled while reading your note. No, I’m not laughing at you, I’m smiling because I think it’s adorable! Again, I’m not being dismissive or ignoring your point, but your final sentence asked if it sounds like this girl is someone who is attracted to you and wants to be with you… Uh, that would be a resounding YES!

Let’s look at this logically. You guys are spending a lot of time together. You’ve spent time at each other’s houses, and you’ve met her folks on multiple occasions. And, you seem to have her mum’s approval. On top of that are the little but important nuances such as the messages, the obvious desire to spend time with you—and her smiling when you’re in bed. As far as you two “defining” this as a relationship? I think you’ve defined it in the best way possible, with your actions. I know, you often need the words, and having a quiet talk would be appropriate.

Try to enjoy this if you can. To me, it looks like two nice people have found each other and who can argue with that? I wish you the best—especially in this New Year—and hope you find complete happiness together. Good luck.
